Delicious thing?

What’s the most delicious thing you’ve ever eaten?

The most delicious thing I have eaten is HOPE. Yes that’s right, and there is a tale I’m going to tell you it.

Back in 2015 I had hope that as a Web Developer I would be able to conquer the world. Not literally but by making a living wage to meet the needs of my family and myself. There was a slight misunderstanding about how the tech world had changed since I built my first 386dx33 to current tech shifts to today thinking.

I was eager and hopeful that I’d be able to get work developing websites for clients around the world. I learned and took courses to get certification at Udacity. I graduated and began my attempt.

Life happens, and so did a year and a half stay in hospital recovering from a devastating life event that shifted my focus from for the family to what I needed for myself. I still have some HOPE left in my banquet table.

Last year, to work on upgrading I took a diploma in General IT Programming, offered by ITD Canada which again I graduated from with excellent high marks leading up to my Backend Developer role as intern for VCN. The hope was still strong while I worked remotely solving learning tasks. I created educational videos about how to use GitLab for people who didn’t know how and it served as a valuable learning experience in why I should have focused more on website development rather than backend work.

I gobbled up the HOPE platter till there was none left. When my internship reached the end I found out I was left with en education that no one cared about with skills no one but myself wanted to make use of and I was also left without work. Now after about a year later I have realized what I don’t have that most of the others did have, a college degree.

Oh I know a bunch of people without degrees are making great money in tech, Zuckerberg being one of them Facebook icon. Now to figure out how to pivot into a successful tech guy with my Diploma and my FEND education.

Hope is a delicious meal, just wish I could find a bit more. Ground floor is the only place I’ve got experience at, so I guess it’s time to level up.
