Future city?

How would you design the city of the future?

My future city plans heavily involve greenery and trees as we struggle with pollution daily and so my initial plans would be to reduce or eliminate heavy industries and switch things out to be more energy efficient as well as healthy for the environment and planet. Involved in all of these plans would be a heavy reliance upon wind power as well as solar power and the collection of energy through both kinds of power generation.

In addition to this I would replace fossil fuel use except in limited ways such as cooking and camping needs. If it can be done via use of renewable resources it should be done that way. Especially transport methods, with the rise in electric vehicles and the push for cleaner driving if we can push much of the ff use to the side for the environment we should.

I live in a very lush environment currently and want to be able to preserve it, as well as grow it. With that in mind I would increase the accessibility to electric transportation via rail and independent vehicles able to drive where rail is not an option.

Housing would be a blend of environmentally sustainable housing as well as relying on solar and thermal power sources such as geo thermal energy for heating and cooling systems. I haven’t forgotten about bathroom needs and as such I’ve decided that investing in bio fuel such as bio waste can be converted into energy as well to bring disposal of waste into a different mindset, that conversation rather than just disposal as the best option.

I also really like the idea that recycling is something that is already being done but we should be able to recycle more than we currently do so rather than new shiny toys made out of brand new stuff the shift in industry will be to recycling whatever is possible and conversation from one state to another for what needs to be changed for the city of tomorrow.

All of this is just a broad stroke strategy that could likely be used and implemented in any city currently. We have only one planet currently, let’s make better choices moving forward.
